On Wednesday 16 November, Year 5 enjoyed a fabulous trip to the Wimbledon All England Lawn Tennis Club to find out about the history of the club and its surrounding area, as well as investigating Victorian pastimes. The boys loved dressing up in Victorian clothes (male and female!), as well as examining various sources including pictures, photographs, maps and information from the 1861 census. Of course, being at Wimbledon for the day also meant a guided tour of the world famous Centre court and museum, and restricted access areas such as the Press Office. Sadly, being a cold November day, famous tennis stars were thin on the ground and there was not a strawberry in sight. However the boys enjoyed a fascinating day, gaining an insight into both the past and present of this famous place.
