An integral part of Dulwich College for 200 boys aged 7 to 11, providing the distinctive and special educational experience of a junior school.

The Junior School recently raised the fantastic sum of £1,183.90 for the charity READATHON, which is a sponsored reading event.

We congratulate the following boys, who became members of the 25th Camberwell Scouts in an investiture ceremony held in the Great Hall: Christopher Millis (6RS), Alex Tischler (6Q), Sam Bowers (6Q), Noah Smith (6RS), Henry Hilton (6RS), Oliver Mills (6RS), Ethan Staunton (6RS), Max Parfitt (6RS), Kerem Tezcan (6R), Joseph Farara (6RS) and James Barnett (6R).

In our continuing support for our link school in Buwembe Uganda, the 2012 calendar presents 12 images especially produced by pupils at DUCKS and Dulwich College.

On Wednesday 16 November, Year 5 enjoyed a fabulous trip to the Wimbledon All England Lawn Tennis Club to find out about the history of the club and its surrounding area, as well as investigating Victorian pastimes.

The Remembrance Ceremony at the College included, for the first time in recent years, a full contingent of the 25th Camberwell (1st Dulwich College) Scouts as well as members of the CCF.

As part of their History studies into the Second World War, Year 6 visited the Imperial War Museum yesterday. As well as viewing the huge number of artefacts in the WWII gallery the boys were able to get up close to tanks, guns and other vehicles used in war throughout the ages.

The annual U11 rugby tour took place over half term with 14 boys from Year 6 heading down to Bristol along with Mr Quilter and Mr Goodrich. The three day tour was a great success and thoroughly enjoyed by all.

On Wednesday, 12 October the Year 3 boys came to school dressed as Athenian citizens. The boys pretended it was the year 490BC and that they were in the agora in Athens awaiting the news of the progression of the Persian army.

"Whoosh! The sound of the past two weeks flying by in a whirlwind of lessons and library books, timetables and lunch tables and times tables, new blazers, new teachers and new faces. Yet somehow the experience of these 14 days feels like a long established routine, new faces seem like old faces and new places feel like home..."

Dulwich celebrated the 10th annual European Day of Languages with a week of school-wide language activities ranging from a practical balloon-making Year 6 assembly in French to conflict management in different languages.

On Tuesday the entire Junior School took part in the annual House Team Building Day. With the older Year 6 boys partnering their buddies from the younger year groups, each House attempted to overcome a series of mental and physical challenges that demanded close team work.

Children in the Junior School support a different charity each term. This term they will be supporting ‘Trees for Cities’.

In an atmosphere of great excitement every boy in the Junior School –including our new Year 3 boys who had only been with us for 5 days - took part in the annual Junior School House Cross Country Competition last week.

The new academic year marks the launch of a refreshed look and feel for all College publicity materials, including the website, signage, stationery and prospectus.

Sam Fanning (6RS), Lucas Wilson (6R) and Jake Fetherston (6Q) have all had a busy summer playing cricket for Surrey at U10 level.

Musical news from the summer weeks must highlight the outstanding achievements of two Alleynians, Thomas Parfitt and James Orford.

A level results 2011 Boys at the College achieved their best ever results this summer, with 91.6% of grades at A*, A or B. 70.8% of grades were A or A*, and 25.8% were graded A*. Half the boys in the year group achieved 3 A grades or better.

Following the staging of a new version Godber’s Teechers by Ned’s Company in November 2010, Teechers transferred to the Edinburgh Festival Fringe this summer in a Young Pleasance production for a two-week run from mid-August at one of the Fringe’s most high profile and prestigious venues.

In July, two Dulwich teachers and five students undertook a tiring but fascinating trip to Buwembe school in Uganda, which Dulwich College has supported for many years through fundraising events and gifts

Dulwich College 1st XI reached the inaugural Foundation of Goodness Cricket Tournament Final on their recent trip to Sri Lanka from July 8 to 19.
