On Tuesday 20 March, our Year 5 cohort was treated to an interactive Aztec experience, courtesy of Mexicolore’s inaugural visit to the Junior School.

The U11 A team travelled to Harrow last Sunday, to play in the Independent Schools Football Association U11 7-a-side tournament.

The author Caroline Lawrence visited Dulwich College Junior School on Thursday 15 March. She gave a presentation to the whole school and had us all in fits of laughter.

Yesterday the Young Shakespeare Company paid their annual visit to the Junior School. They performed a marvellous adaptation of Hamlet, which had the boys mesmerised.

As part of the celebrations for World Book Day on 1 March, all of Year 6 attended the presentation, which included a display of Samurai sword fighting, kick fighting, stealth walking and other ninja and martial arts demonstrations.

The Junior School Chess Squad secured first place in an inter-school chess tournament on Sunday 29 January. It was the regional eliminator for a national tournament, to be held in Camber Sands in the summer.

As part of our topic on Myths, Fables and Legends, 5C wrote their own fables to read to Year 3.

On Wednesday 15 February all of the Year 3 boys visited Southwark Cathedral.

The boys in Year 6 celebrated Valentine’s Day with a visit from our very own cupid and librarian, Mrs Forbes.

3P worked independently last week researching ‘The Roman Army’. The aim was to produce a file of 10 facts in a History lesson using ICT resources.

The Under 10As had a successful afternoon at the Alleyn’s Football tournament on Thursday 2 February.

On Thursday 2 February, Year 5 enjoyed a trip to the Victoria and Albert Museum as part of their study of William Morris and decorative art.

On Tuesday 6 December the Junior School Chess Squad and lots of supportive parents made their way to Kensington Olympia to attend the London Chess Classic, a professional tournament involving nine of the world’s top players.

We were thrilled to hear the news that Luca Franchi (5B) has been selected to play in the National Children’s Orchestra of Great Britain and Ebube Chiana (4G) has been offered a place as a chorister in the prestigious Temple Choir.

Congratulations go to Ethan Staunton (6RS) who has been selected for the U13 Surrey Hockey squad. Ethan was selected from a large group of boys invited to a hockey camp after an initial trial. This is a particularly remarkable achievement given that he was trialled alongside boys two years above him.
