Southwark Schools' Learning Partnership

• The SSLP Creative Hub, of which the Director of Art and Design & Technology has a leading role, organises regular Art Lectures such as the Art of Learning from Art and Jeremy Deller at the Dulwich Picture Gallery and John Keane at Charter School North Dulwich
• A two-day sculpture workshop at Bell House Education Centre for Year 12 art students
• Kwame Kwei-Armah award-winning director and playwright gave a talk for SSLP schools at Dulwich College
• Emmanuel Jal gave a talk (spoken word and music) giving details of his life story - from child solider in South Sudan to international performer. Survival, aspiration and forgiveness were key-themes. Students from partner schools joined for lunch with Emmanuel and the talk.

Our Careers Department provided talks and networking opportunities with Old Alleynians, including an event focusing on Healthcare professionals.

The Careers Convention included universities, companies, professional institutes and gap providers.

Students from two partnership schools attended weekly Beginner's Arabic classes for two terms - providing them with skills in an additional foreign language.

Through international contacts we placed Spanish PGCE graduates in partner schools, providing 1,000+ hours of language oral support.

We organised STEM Lectures including interactive demonstrations

A Stimulating Physics Network Day provided CPD (Career Professional Development) for secondary teachers and technicians.

Dulwich Literary Festival gave SSLP students the opportunity to enter Winter, a short story competition judged by author Ali Smith.

The Stuart Horne Foundation bursaries provide SSLP students the opportunity to attend leadership courses with Outward Bound Canada.

Sixth-Form students from neighbouring schools attended our Upper-School Symposium on Tradition and Innovation. A key-note speaker was followed by a whole range of workshops including advertising, military technology, satire, philosophy, anthropology and architecture. One visiting student said "I feel as if I have attended a whole term of Liberal Studies in one day. my head is buzzing."

Twelve students from partner schools were given mock interviews in advance of their real Oxbridge interviews. They benefited from attending an unfamiliar location and meeting a new teacher with expertise in their specific subject area.

We organised a series of three twilight Professional Learning events focusing on pedagogy. In the first session teachers from across the partnership heard a presentation from renowned trainer David Didau, who presented three theories for making kids smarter. In the follow-up sessions (which were taken to other schools) we discussed our own experiences of implementing these theories and the observations we had made during inter-school visits.
