As the pressures of A-level examinations forced the Year 13 founders and organisers of Rock Alive into retirement, there were fears that the musical feast might not be repeated. Fortunately, Year 12 students; Ben Kidson, George Roberts and Nick Galitzine stepped into their shoes to produce Rock Alive 2012. Following the huge successes of the 2009 and 2011 concerts, the capacity crowd in the Edward Alleyn Theatre had high expectations for the evening, and were certainly not disappointed.
There were spectacular performances from; Dom Mill, Ramiz Ahmed-Man, Tom Purwar, Jack Arnold, Charles Carey, Soo-Yung Chai, Segar, George Roberts, Ben Kidson, Nick Galitzine and many girls from JAGS.
By selling wrist bands as entry tickets, the event raised over £800 for our link school Buwembe in Uganda. Our annual donation sponsors four Buwembe students throughout their A-level studies helping them to achieve their aspirations.
Well done to everyone who contributed to the event; what a fantastic evening. Special thanks to Carol Morris (theatre), Harold Maxfield (AV) and Mikey Garrison (AV), without whom the night could not have taken place.
Watch this space for Rock Alive 2013….
