Three Keyboard Events

Posted: 14 Mar 2012

This term has been the busiest to date for the Keyboard Department. Thirteen pianists took part in the Lunchtime Concert in the Chapel on 1 February playing a selection of duets and rounding off with a performance of ‘Les Noces d’Argent ‘ by Chaminade for four players at one piano. The Informal Piano Concert held in the Old Library on 9 February attracted 38 players from all years and was supported by a large audience of parents and friends. The highlight of the term was the Piano Competition, now in its 16th year, which was held on 1 March. Classes 1-4 took place in the Old Library after which we moved to the Great Hall for the two senior Classes. A total of 81 boys ranging in standard from beginner to Diploma level took part and the winners of the Lane Cup and Graeme Jenkins Cup were Toby Medland and James Orford respectively.

Our next event will be a Piano and Organ Platform on 24 May and future plans include a Piano Masterclass and a visit to the Steinway workshop. TJB
