Dulwich 1st XV gave a superb display of rugby, beating reigning National Daily Mail champions Whitgift School away by 25 points to 11. In front of a substantial home crowd and 100 travelling Dulwich supporters the team battled sternly into a near gale force wind and up the slope forcing an early score with the game's first try through Tommy O’ Flaherty. After half time, trailing by only 6 points to 5, Dulwich were confident that territorial pressure and patience would pay off. This proved to be the case with tries coming from Beno Obano after a neat Jeremy Reason off-load; Tom Rosier running on to a grubber kick to the corner and Harvey Austin with a perfectly timed interception in the final play of the game. All in all Dulwich put in a characteristic performance in defence and didn't look like conceding points until the last few minutes when the game was won. We look forward to the next round which will be at home against Hampton on Wednesday 18 January 2012.
