Stephen Spender Prize

Anamay Viswanathan co-winner in the U14 category of the Times Stephen Spender Poetry Translation Prize 2011The Times Stephen Spender Poetry Translation Prize 2011 was announced on Saturday. Anamay Viswanathan (Year 10) is the co-winner in the U14 category for “a graceful and intelligent translation” of Children of the Sun and Wind. In Anamay’s words, “The poet, Mohammed Ebnu, describes a journey, a journey of life, and how we live it. He conveys this with passion and emotion through his imagery. I felt touched and gripped by his poetry and I felt the meaning as it is relevant to anyone who sees life as a journey with up-hill struggles, but it is this hunger and ambition to achieve a desired goal, no matter how steep the climb, that pushes us.”
