Enriching Boarding

Orchard and Old Blew House Link

At Dulwich College we are very proud of our boarding community. Edward Alleyn founded our College in 1619 to provide education and lodgings for 12 scholars. Today we have a thriving and harmonious community of 140 boarders from the UK and around the world which remains at the heart of the College. Boys can board from the age of 11 in The Orchard and Old Blew. Senior boys can continue there or move to one of the on-site houses, Blew and Ivyholme. Communal space is at the heart of each of our 4 boarding houses.

Our plan was to create a single enlarged and enhanced Boarding House through the development of a new single storey link connecting “The Orchard” and “Old Blew House”. Since its completion the new link has provided excellent recreation and social spaces for boarders and greater interaction across our boarding community. It has also made effective use of our historic buildings and allowed for even greater pastoral care through dedicated Boarding House staff.
