The Summer Concert

David Young performs at the Summer Concert

The College’s musicians gave this year’s Summer Concert at Cadogan Hall on Tuesday, 1 May.  The programme included music by Weber, Tchaikovsky, Berlioz and Bernstein and featured the Symphony Orchestra, the Symphonic Wind Band, the Chamber Orchestra, Brass Consort and Chapel Choir.  Sam Collier gave a dazzling performance of the Double Bass Concerto by the contemporary composer, Gareth Wood, and David Young gave a superb reading of the first movement of Mendelssohn’s famous Violin Concerto in E minor.  The programme concluded with the premiere of a jubilant setting of Psalm 150 by Thomas Hewitt Jones OA which was sung by the College Chapel Choir, accompanied by Mr Timothy Barratt and Mr Christian Wilson and conducted by Mr Richard Mayo.
