Between 22 February and 13 May the Hayward Gallery at London’s Southbank Centre will be displaying a ‘mid-career survey’ of the work of renowned contemporary artist Jeremy Deller (77-84).

The regional round of the Oxford Union Schools’ Debating Competition was held on Thursday 9 February at Whitgift School. Three teams from Dulwich participated and all three made it through to Finals’ Day which will be held in Oxford in March – another outstanding result.

In what can only be called an outstanding performance, the Dulwich teams were the only two to progress to Finals’ Day of the Cambridge Union Schools’ Debating Competition from the second round of the competition held on Friday 3 February at City of London School.

Abingdon School 17 Dulwich College 17 (Dulwich qualify on away draw rule). In near freezing conditions, the players, supporters and parents of the Dulwich College 1st XV travelled to Abingdon for this eagerly awaited Quarter Final. The game did not disappoint and provided one of the tensest finishes imaginable.

Wednesday’s Brass lunchtime concert set the bar high for future concerts with an opening fanfare featuring no fewer than 43 of the College’s trumpeters performing Diabelli’s Heroic Fanfare.

On Monday 30 January, Alec Fiddes represented the England Independent Schools Football Association XI in an international match against Australia.

Sixth Former Sam Collier, as a member of the England team, enjoyed great success in the World Schools’ Debating Championship 2012, held in Cape Town, South Africa, having come second on the overall speakers’ tab, which essentially makes him the second best speaker in the world at schools’ level.
