Year 12 Drama & Theatre Studies students delighted their audience of parents and peers with a showcase of original pieces of Devised Drama in preparation for examination later this year.
They creatively adapted and reinterpreted familiar folk tales of desire, temptation, trickery and damnation using theatrical techniques associated with the theatre company Kneehigh
. Throughout the year the boys have explored the demands made on the actor by Emma Rice and Mike Shepherd, co-founders of Kneehigh who have created magical and unforgettable productions including their own staging of fairy tales and legends. The three pieces, Bearskin, Red Shoes
were playful and inventive with plenty of deft ensemble playing and great characterisation – a great foundation for future development. Our visit the Kneehigh production of Tristan and Yseult at the Globe
in June will provide still further fuel. Cautionary Tales picture gallery
