Spring Choral Concert at Southwark Cathedral

Posted: 24 Mar 2017
Spring Choral ConcertThe College’s annual Spring Choral Concert was given at Southwark Cathedral on Wednesday 22 March 2017. The programme began with the Symphony Orchestra, led by Ben Miller, performing Mendelssohn’s Hebrides Overture. This was followed by a very fine performance from Harry Wallace of the first movement of Haydn’s Cello Concerto in C. The second part of the programme was a performance of Mozart’s Great C minor Mass. The boys and staff of the Madrigal Choir together with Dulwich College Chorus (a Chorus of the parents, OAs and friends of the College), formed a chorus of some 130 singers. Although incomplete, the Great C minor Mass contains music of the very highest quality and it was a privilege to be able to perform this piece in such a beautiful setting. The soloists were Gillian Keith, Helen Meyerhoff, Peter Davoren and Philip Tebb. The orchestra was led by Miss Lesley Larkum, the College’s Head of Strings and the concert was conducted by the Director of Music, Mr Richard Mayo.
