Following an extensive selection process, David Young and Ho Ting Chan have been chosen to play with the National Youth Orchestra of Great Britain.

Twenty four of the College’s brass players performed at last Wednesday’s Lunchtime Concert. The concert was diverse in style and began with a stunning performance of Britten’s Fanfare from St. Edmundsbury played by Toby Wells, Ed Vineall and Tomek Edwards.

The Times Stephen Spender Poetry Translation Prize 2011 was announced on Saturday. Anamay Viswanathan (Year 10) is the co-winner in the U14 category for “a graceful and intelligent translation” of Children of the Sun and Wind. In Anamay’s words, “The poet, Mohammed Ebnu, describes a journey, a journey of life, and how we live it.

Beno Obano, Year 12, played for England U18 in their 54 - 5 win against London Academies on Friday 28 October.

‘Brains, Minds, Machines’ was the inter-disciplinary theme for this year’s Upper School Symposium, on October 13.
