The Medical Centre
The Medical Centre is a purpose built facility opened in 1997 and named after Dr Richard Penny an Old Alleynian and a former Medical Officer to the College. It is staffed by highly qualified nurses, and visiting doctors from the local Rosendale Practice, who provide daily medical care available to all the boys and the staff at the College.
The Centre is fully equipped to serve a dual purpose; firstly to provide an immediate response to accidents and emergency situations, but also to offer a range of routine services.
Our medical staff work to create a safe, warm and friendly environment. We are committed to provide a high quality service acknowledging the need for confidentiality and following the safeguarding guidelines.
We aim to provide a listening service and those attending will be treated, supported and cared for with attention to their individual needs.
The Medical Centre provides the following care:
- The Centre has a five bedded inpatient facility primarily for boarders who are unwell. The beds may also be used by day boys who are unwell and are awaiting collection by their parents.
- It is open during term times from Monday – Friday, 08:00-18:30, and to cover Sports fixtures on Saturdays.
- Outside these hours, a 24 hour service is provided for boarding pupils who are unwell or are injured and, if required, a nurse will stay overnight to care for them.
