For entry to the Middle School (Year 9)
At least one scholarship of up to 10% of the tuition fee for excellence in art will be offered for September 2013.
The appropriate application form should be completed on behalf of candidates for the Art Scholarship. This should accompany the Registration Form.
Candidates are required to write, in their own words, a short personal paragraph about their work and artistic interests.
The assesment for the Art Scholarship is intended to discover artistic ability and exceptional potential. The successful candidate is likely to be one who, besides showing promise, is able to demonstrate that art is a predominant interest in his leisure time. Accordingly, candidates are required to submit a portfolio containing a selection of drawings, paintings and, if desired, photographs of three dimensional work, which should be clearly divided into two categories:
- work carried out under supervision at school and
- work carried out in the candidate's own time
This should be addressed to the Director of Art and must arrive at the College not later than Friday 30 November 2012. It will not be possible to consider candidates whose portfolios arrive after this date. No framed works should be included. Cartoons and copies of other works are of little help in assessing a candidate's potential and should, if included, be kept to a minimum.
The Director of Art, Mrs Maria Jenkins, is pleased to make an appointment to see the parents of prospective scholars and to give advice on the presentation of portfolios.
